      Which subjects should I choose!?

This question is often followed, rightfully so, by which job do I want to do? And as a grade 8/9 or (younger) how is one expected to be able to know that! Although the process is difficult there are a few steps to make this a bit easier.

      Step 1 – Know yourself
Knowing yourself is probably the most important and obvious step. What are you good at? What do you enjoy? Although every teacher and parent probably already tells you this it is important. Do you like and excel in science? Do you have a natural artistic talent? Knowing yourself means being able to identify a potential passion that you could do later in life based on what you are already good at.

Many people don’t know the answer to those questions, and the first thing to do would be to start small.

      Step 2 – Grow yourself
Once you have an idea of what you’re good at it’s time to start researching. Using sites such as ***** you can learn about the different jobs that require your skills. Once you have that figured out you can then look at the degree or quilification needed for that job. This is the key step to determining subject choice. From here look at the subjects needed for this degree! And there you have it, your subject choices.

      Step 3 – Show yourself
If you’ve made it to step 3 that’s an achievement within itself! Many people battle to even get here. You might think that you’re all done once you have your subjects identified but it’s important to take it one step further. The next thing to do is to make sure this is the job that you actually want and will enjoy. How you can do this is through actually going to someone with this job and experiencing it. This is so that you can show yourself how it works and how your future career will go.
